Melissa Ordway, also known as Melissa Gaston, is known for her work on The Young and the Restless. However, she recently shared that she was stepping away from Genoa City for a new role, complete with a whole new look. Ordway is known for playing Abby Newman on CBS’ The Young and the Restless. Having joined the cast in 2013, she took over from actress Marcy Rylan.
For her work on the soap, Ordway was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama. However, taking to social media, Ordway also wanted to show off a new role, complete with a whole new look.
For her new role, Ordway is leaving Genoa City for Sugarcreek, Ohio. She will appear in an upcoming episode of the Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries.
Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries is a mystery series that airs on UPtv based on the Guideposts book series. On the show, a Chicago banker, Cheryl Cooper, relocates to the title area to manage an Amish-themed gift shop. Putting her wits to good use, she solves crimes within the community.
In the post, Ordway shared what it was like working on the show. As she wrote, “Almost a year ago, we went to Sugarcreek, Ohio, to film a show and left with so much more than I ever expected… sweet friendships, a little glimpse into the Amish community, memories I’ll never forget, and somehow… a new puppy.”
Ordway Also Showed Off A New Addition To Her Family During The Share
Naturally, Ordway included shots of the family’s new furry friend. She continued, “What started as a job turned into such a special experience, and I’m so excited that you finally get to see it! Watch the episode on @up_tv it’s out now!”
Ordway revealed that she was playing a character named Lacey. She then asked fans what they thought of the character from what they could glimpse in a few shots.
As a soap opera star, many fans likely expect to see Ordway in glamorous outfits. However, during the share, her character was dressed in clothes patterned after traditional Amish clothes. This included a modest black dress and a white cap, complete with her hair neatly contained within.
Fans also had all sorts of reactions to Ordway’s share. Some commented on her new look. Others shared memories of their own personal experiences with the Amish community. Of course, some questioned one stylistic choice: namely, whether her character would be wearing makeup, especially as Ordway showed herself getting ready in a chair. Some comments included:
