TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 39-20 under wet conditions on Saturday night as they evened up the regular season series with their East Division rivals. The Argos took control in the second half after playing well in the first but seeing the visitors go into the dressing room with a narrow lead.
Chad Kelly threw for three touchdowns and ran in another while his defence put Ford under duress in what was an important bounce-back win for the Argos.

2 – SHAWN LEMON SACKS
Toronto’s pass rush didn’t make life easy for Hamilton’s Tre Ford, bringing the Canadian quarterback to the turf four times. Shawn Lemon recorded half of those sacks for the Argos.
Lemon got to Ford on second down midway through the second quarter to force Hamilton into a field goal try and then got a strip sack which swung the momentum firmly in Toronto’s favour midway through the fourth. Bubba Bolden and DeWayne Hendrix registered the other sacks for the Boatmen.
3 – HAMILTON SECOND-HALF POINTS
The Argonauts held the Tiger-Cats out of the end zone after the break in what was a dominant second-half display from the hosts.
Even with the rain making it an ideal game to utilize the ground game, Hamilton was stuck airing it out as Toronto shut down the rushing attack. As already mentioned, Ford was put under pressure, leading to sacks and incomplete passes. In the fourth quarter, Toronto forced three turnovers on three straight drives as they finished strong.
4 – CHAD KELLY TOUCHDOWNS
Kelly accounted for all of Toronto’s touchdowns on Saturday as he threw for three and ran for one in one of his best games of the seasons.
With the rain pouring down at times it looked like a tricky environment for a gunslinging Kelly to find success in but he looked comfortable and was killer in the red zone. He delivered two touchdown passes to Damonte Coxie and another to Kevin Mital and put the game away with a rushing score on the goal line in the fourth quarter.
