A 90 Day Fiance fan favorite has just revealed a heartbreaking ALS diagnosis. This comes days after another star shared that they had suffered a heart attack and were preparing for surgery. So, who is it, and when did this come about? Keep reading for more details on what is currently known.
90 Day Fiance Star Diagnosed With ALS
It feels like everywhere television fans look, their favorites are being diagnosed with ALS. Eric Dane, from Grey’s Anatomy fame, just passed away from the disease, which affects the nervous system. He was only 53 when he died, and it was incredibly heartbreaking watching him slowly go from sprightly young actor to wheelchair bound. Now, one of 90 Day Fiance‘s most beloved stars is going through the same thing, and they are breaking their silence on the terrifying diagnosis.
Jenny Slatten, who first appeared on Season 1 of The Other Way, has had a controversial time on the show. She and her much younger partner, Sumit Singh, met in an interesting way when he catfished her in 2012. However, it turned into love, and the age-gap romance turned into marriage. He is thirty years younger than she, but they have made it through many hurdles. The couple will soon appear on Season 3 of The Last Resort, but ahead of this, Jenny is sharing that she has been diagnosed with ALS.
It all started in 2024 when Jenny, 68, choked on water, followed by migraines and continued swallowing issues. Soon enough, her speech slurred, and she stopped speaking. Per Jenny:
“That’s when we knew something was wrong.”
90 Day Fiance fans had noticed something was off and wondered if she had a stroke. Nothing was confirmed, but Sumit felt that she may have been tired:
“I was thinking that maybe … Jenny didn’t even sleep.”
It was then that a fan felt she might have ALS, and that led him to start researching the disease. As it turned out, Jenny Slatten’s father had passed from it a decade before.
What The Future Holds
The 90 Day Fiance couple headed to the doctors in India, seeking out neurologists who believed she had a clot in her brain. However, a second opinion revealed ALS. They cried together but have since learned that Jenny Slatten’s progression “is slow.” Jenny and Sumit are looking into different things to help, as there is no cure. The hope is to make her feel as good as she possibly can. Per Jenny:
“I don’t want to be treated any different. Let’s just live our life as we have been while we can.”
Upon Jenny revealing her diagnosis, fans were shocked and heartbroken as they really liked her on the show:
- I really hate to hear this, I’ve always liked her & him. They’ve always been one of my favorite couples from 90 day. I wish them well & I hope they get the help they need.
Hopefully, Jenny can find a way to be as comfortable as possible. Are you stunned to hear that she is going through this? Let us know and watch 90 Day: The Last Resort June 1st on TLC.
