The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back in Canada for the first time in almost a year.
Last time around, Carlos Ulberg shocked everyone by knocking out Jiri Prochazka (who had his hands down, surprise surprise) on an injured right knee. This time around, Burlington, Ontario native Mike Malott is set to take on Gilbert Burns, his first fight of the new year.
UFC Fight Night: Burns vs Malott is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prelims will start at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. The main card will start following the prelim fights, with the start time being 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
As mentioned earlier, this is the first time the UFC has come to Canada since May 2025, when UFC 315 took place in Montreal, Quebec. In that bout, Jack Della Maddalena beat Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision after five rounds. Interestingly, Mike Malott also competed on that card and knocked out Charles Radke.

Where to Watch
Although Canadians (annoyingly) don’t have access to the current Paramount+ deal, a few TV providers will have it available.
Unlike numbered cards, you don’t need a nearly $70 pay-per-view to watch this event. If you already pay for Sportsnet either through the Sportsnet+ streaming service or through Canadian TV providers that carry Sportsnet (Bell, Rogers, SaskTel, etc.), you can access it.
However, if you don’t want to spend any money on the Rogers-owned sports network, you can also tune into it through UFC FightPass.
FightPass is available on a monthly or annual basis. The monthly pass is C$10.99/mo, while the annual plan is C$61.99/year. Currently, FightPass is available on Android, iOS, Amazon Fire devices, Chromecasts (though not listed, it is compatible), Roku, Xbox, LG, Samsung Smart TVs, and Sony TVs with Android TV capability.
If you want to grab a bite to eat while watching the fight, some restaurants or local sports bars could be showing the event on their TVs. As mentioned for previous UFC events, I would recommend showing up early to get a good vantage point, especially since it is around playoff time for several sports.
