Macklin Celebrini of Vancouver, British Columbia made San Jose Sharks history on Thursday. He set the Sharks franchise record for the most points in a single season with 115. Canadian Olympic gold medalist Joe Thornton of London, Ontario had the previous Sharks record of 114 points which was set in the 2006-07 season. Thornton won the gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

Celebrini’s 115th point on Thursday came in a dominant 6-1 Sharks win over the Winnipeg Jets at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Celebrini scored from John Klingberg and Will Smith at 1:14 of the third period to close out the scoring. It was Celebrini’s third point of the game as he set up Igor Chernyshov and Will Smith in the first period.

For the season, Celebrini had 45 goals and 70 assists for 115 points in 82 games. He was a +8 with 44 penalty minutes, 33 power-play points, five game-winning goals, 287 shots on goal, 625 faceoff wins, 53 blocked shots, 53 hits, 41 takeaways and 150 giveaways.

Celebrini also set the Sharks franchise record this season with the most even strength goals with 37. Jonathan Cheechoo of Moose Factory, Ontario had the old Sharks record as he scored 30 even strength goals during the 2005-06 National Hockey League regular season.
