Transat A.T. Inc. is revising 2026 program, with targeted adjustments on certain routes, in response to the unprecedented aviation fuel crisis and exceptional volatility in energy markets.

The company said that the measures are intended to optimize deployed capacity by prioritizing routes with the strongest performance outlook, as part of the Company’s ongoing operational discipline. The changes implemented to date represent a 6% reduction in planned capacity from May to October 2026.

Transat has been facing significant fuel price volatility for several weeks, as well as supply constraints in certain regions, including Cuba. The company has therefore adjusted its program by reducing the number of frequencies on some routes to Europe and the Caribbean and by extending the suspension of service to Cuba until October.

Supported by Transat’s resilient program, affected customers are being assisted through the offering of alternative travel options, in accordance with the Company’s practices.

Annick Guérard, President and Chief Executive Officer, said that: “The recent volatility in aviation fuel prices reflects an exceptional environment affecting the entire sector. We are closely monitoring the situation, as cost pressures continue to be felt across the industry. We will continue to optimize our program based on demand, which remains strong. Additional measures may be implemented depending on how the situation evolves, beyond our control.”

    Cuba Update

Air Transat has also advised that due to the ongoing fuel shortage situation in Cuba, it is adjusting its flight program to the destination.

In a message to its partners, it says that subject to how the situation evolves, the gradual resumption of our operations is now planned for Oct. 25, 2026.

    Impact on bookings

    • All reservations with a scheduled departure on or before October 25 are cancelled. Travellers will receive an automatic refund to the original form of payment. No action is required on their part.
    • Travellers currently at destination whose return flight was scheduled on or before October 25 will be reaccommodated on the next available flight. If they decline the proposed itinerary, they will be eligible for a full refund.

    Alternative options for your clients

The airline notes that it continues to offer a wide range of sun destinations from its main Canadian gateways this summer, including:

    • Colombia – Cartagena
    • Costa Rica – – Liberia; San José
    • Guadeloupe – Pointe à Pitre
    • Jamaica – Montego Bay
    • Martinique – Fort-de-France
    • Mexico – Cancún
    •  Peru – Lima
    • Dominican Republic — Puerto Plata; Punta Cana; Samaná

    Group bookings

For group bookings, partners are advised to contact their Group Sales Coordinator to discuss available options and tailored solutions.

And it said that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and will communicate any relevant updates as soon as possible.
