The project marks her sophomore film following her critically acclaimed debut, which won the Un Certain Regard prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and quickly established her as a distinctive new voice in British cinema, as well as her breakout star, Mia McKenna Bruce.
While plot details for Not Another F**ing Wedding remain under wraps, the film is expected to continue in a similar tonal space to her debut, which explored the complexities of youth, consent and emotional aftermath. The new project is still in early development, with production company Plan B attached alongside A24, continuing a run of collaborations between the two companies on high-profile independent films.
Manning Walker will once again take on both writing and directing duties, following a career path that has seen her transition from cinematography into filmmaking. Her background behind the camera continues to inform her work, contributing to the naturalistic style that defined How to Have Sex.
The announcement also signals a strengthening relationship with A24, with Molly Manning Walker already working with the studio on other projects, including a television series developed in collaboration with Channel 4. Although further details around casting and release remain unknown, Not Another F**ing Wedding is expected to generate significant interest, with early reports suggesting it could follow a similar festival trajectory to her debut.
As Manning Walker builds on her Cannes success, the project positions her firmly among a new wave of British filmmakers gaining international attention.
