AEW wrestler Tanea “Rebel” Brooks recently took to social media to share an emotional health update with fans. She had recently been diagnosed with ALS after previously battling other health issues. During the share, Brooks also made sure to take time to thank fans for their support and prayers, who have since expressed words of encouragement to the wrestler.
Tanea ‘Rebel’ Brooks Shared A Message From The ‘Bottom’ Of Her ‘Heart’
Tanea Brooks, also known by the ring name “Rebel,” is a professional wrestler. She also works as a manager, actress, and model. She had signed with All Elite Wrestling and is also known for her work with Impact Wrestling.
Recently, Brooks took to social media to make an emotional share with fans. The wrestler shared that she had been diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a fatal disease.
Brooks stated, “The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS.” ALS, also commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. As the wrestler noted, “There is not a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have.”
However, Brooks noted that the diagnosis at least gave her some answers. She continued, “It explains why I have trouble walking and talking, and all my functions will soon decline.”
Brooks shared that, with this knowledge, she and her loved ones can at least “prepare for the future and what is to come.” She also shared her gratitude towards a lot of people in her life. This included the AEW organization and Tony Khan, its president and CEO.
Brooks also wanted to thank her fans who have shared their prayers and support throughout this time. She added, “It has been a blessing that is unheard of, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.” Tearfully blowing a kiss to the camera, she then asked fans to continue keeping her in their prayers. She added, “Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I love you.”
The ALS Research Institute Also Expressed Words Of Support
As noted by People, Brooks previously shared that she had been diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphoma. Back in late 2025, she revealed that she had been hospitalized the year prior for what she originally believed was a lung infection. Reportedly, she received her recent ALS diagnosis just as she was set to undergo lung surgery.
The ALS Research Institute, a nonprofit organization, also praised Brooks for her recent post. As read in a statement, “Rebel, thank you for your bravery in sharing this. You are not alone, the ALS community is with you.” The post also offered to connect with her when she feels ready.
Taking to social media, fans have also continued to share their support with Brooks. Many felt that her share would help encourage others in similar positions and praised her courage. Some comments included:
