Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s bitter winery war just took another dramatic turn in court.
The actress scored a major legal win after a judge ruled she would not have to hand over private emails tied to the former couple’s explosive Château Miraval fight.
The latest decision marks another chapter in the exes’ years-long courtroom feud, which continues years after their split and divorce.
While Pitt’s side insists the battle is far from over, Jolie’s legal team is already celebrating what they describe as a significant victory.
Angelina Jolie walked away with a key legal win on Monday after a California appellate court sided with her in the ongoing Château Miraval dispute involving Brad Pitt.
The court ruled that the actress would not be forced to turn over 22 emails connected to the case after determining the messages involved legal strategy discussions that should remain protected.
The ruling overturned a December 2025 order from Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Cindy Pánuco, who had initially directed Jolie to hand the emails over to Pitt’s legal team.
Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, praised the outcome while speaking to the Daily Mail. “The decision shows that Mr. Pitt was completely out of bounds when he sought access to obviously privileged documents,” Murphy said.
He added that Pitt’s team originally requested access to 126 protected documents before eventually narrowing the request down to 22.
“He initially demanded 126 privileged documents, but then backtracked to 22, and now Mr. Pitt is getting nothing, zero,” Murphy continued.

Angelina Jolie’s attorney also used the ruling to criticize Pitt’s approach throughout the legal fight over the French winery.
Murphy claimed the actor’s demands reflected a larger pattern that has continued during the exes’ years-long disputes.
According to Jolie’s lawyer, Pitt has repeatedly attempted to control matters tied to the actress, including communications with her own attorneys. Murphy said the latest court ruling finally stopped those efforts.
“We are extremely gratified that both the Court of Appeal and the trial court ultimately put a stop to it,” he stated. However, Pitt’s camp quickly pushed back against the celebration surrounding the ruling.
A source close to the actor told TMZ that Jolie’s side only secured “a potential temporary decision that allows them to keep information about her real intentions out of court.”
Despite the 50-year-old’s victory regarding the emails, Pitt’s team did earn one favorable ruling during the hearing. The judge rejected Jolie’s request to sanction Pitt’s lawyers $34,000 for filing the motion tied to the documents. According to the court, “sanctions are not warranted.”

The latest court development comes as both stars continue to argue over when the Château Miraval trial should officially begin.
Jolie recently informed the court that she supports a September 2027 trial date, while Pitt wants proceedings to start earlier in April 2027. A source close to the “F1” criticized Jolie’s position while speaking to the Daily Mail.
“It’s sort of sad that the strategy is just a delay instead of addressing or resolving things but that’s par for the course,” the insider said.
Pitt has argued in court filings that the lengthy delays are preventing him from fully enjoying the French estate, which is reportedly valued at $164 million.
The Hollywood star also claimed time matters because several witnesses connected to the case are getting older, with one already having died.
Pitt even referenced the ages of Jolie’s attorneys in court papers reviewed by TMZ, noting that one lawyer passed the bar examination back in 1972.
Meanwhile, Jolie argued that delaying the trial by five additional months would have little impact on the overall case.

Angelina Jolie also challenged her ex-husband’s claims that the winery dispute has negatively impacted his ability to enjoy the estate in France.
According to the “Maleficent” actress’s filing, Pitt failed to present evidence proving the ongoing legal battle interfered with his visits to the property.
She additionally responded to concerns Pitt raised about the Jewish High Holidays potentially disrupting a fall 2027 trial.
Jolie stated that the 62-year-old never identified which members of his legal team would actually be unavailable because of religious observances.
The former couple had previously pushed for entirely different schedules in the case. Court filings reviewed by TMZ showed February 1, 2027 had initially been proposed before Pitt later agreed to move the timeline slightly.
Pitt argued that beginning sooner would help everyone involved “move on with their lives.”

Pitt first launched the lawsuit against Jolie in early 2022, six years after they split in 2026.
Following their separation, Jolie reportedly sought to exit the business and initially entered negotiations with Pitt over a possible buyout.
However, talks eventually collapsed, with the actress later claiming Pitt attempted to include a broad nondisclosure agreement in the deal.
Jolie ultimately sold her shares to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group, in a deal reportedly worth around $67 million.
Pitt later sued, alleging they had an agreement that neither could sell without the other’s consent and accusing Jolie of secretly moving forward with the transaction.
The dispute intensified because the sale introduced outside ownership into the business Pitt had continued developing after their divorce.
