Alan Cumming has revealed that there are still characters appearing in Avengers: Doomsday who have not yet been announced.
The actor, who is set to reprise his role as Nightcrawler in the upcoming Marvel Studios production, spoke to Deadline, saying, “Sometimes there were secret names because they didn’t want to reveal that a certain character was returning, so they called them something else in the script. It was so confusing.”
Referring to the film as “superhero soup”, he adds, “there are so many of them in it. I just can’t keep up.” But shared that his experience shooting the film was great and miles better than his previous experience on X2, sharing it was a “very, very wrong” working environment.
The film is set to boast a massive ensemble of Marvel characters, with many having already been revealed, including the Thunderbolts (or New Avengers), the Fantastic Four, and some returning X-Men, Black Panther and surviving Avengers characters, including Thor, Steve Rogers, and Sam Wilson, with Robert Downey Jr. returning in a different role as Doctor Doom.
However, many Marvel fan favourites have not yet been confirmed for Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, The Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Deadpool, Wolverine, and more. But with Marvel, anything is possible, and these names could make Doomsday the most diverse lineup in Marvel history.
Avengers: Doomsday releases in cinemas in December 2026.
