Kylie Jenner is opening up about the disturbing reality of growing up famous and some of the experiences she endured as a teenager are leaving fans stunned.
During a candid new podcast interview, the beauty mogul revealed the shocking insults paparazzi allegedly screamed at her when she was only 16 years old.
While Jenner has spent most of her life in front of cameras thanks to “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” she admitted that navigating fame as an underage girl without security was far more traumatic than many realized.
Kylie Jenner did not hold back while discussing the harsh treatment she allegedly received from paparazzi during her teenage years.
Speaking on the “Therapuss” podcast with host Jake Shane, the reality star explained that being constantly followed in Los Angeles became overwhelming long before adulthood.
“I think that’s because, honestly, paparazzi or in L.A. it’s just easier to be spotted, I think,” Jenner said per the Daily Mail while explaining why she rarely leaves home when she is in the city.
Although she noted that photographers no longer camped outside her house the way they once did, Jenner admitted that things were “so insane” when she was younger.
“I don’t even know how I’m like a normal person right now,” she confessed. The Kylie Cosmetics founder then revealed one of the cruel comments photographers allegedly yelled at her while she was still underage.
“The things that they would say to me and how they would treat me as a child is diabolical. Like inappropriate,” Jenner shared.
She then stunned the host by recalling, “I would be coming out of a thing and they would be like, ‘You f-cking sl-t’ when I was 16.”
Jenner Says She Faced The Chaos Alone As A Teen
Shane appeared visibly shocked by Kylie Jenner’s story, immediately responding, “What! You’re lying.”
However, the socialite insisted the incidents were real and described how photographers would aggressively surround her vehicle while she tried to escape unnoticed.
“I’m not lying. The things that they would say to me…” she said before explaining she often refused to stop for photos.
“I would never try to give them a photo. So, I would just jump into the car and then there would be like six of them and they would stand in front of my car as I was like, 16, turning my car on,” Jenner said.
According to her, some photographers would intentionally provoke her because they wanted scandalous images they could profit from. “They would all stand out because I would be hiding,” Jenner explained, adding that certain paparazzi would “mock” her.
The mom-of-two also revealed that she was dealing with the chaos almost entirely on her own. “I didn’t have security until after I had my daughter because I really didn’t want to be — I really wanted to not have security,” Jenner admitted.
She further revealed that just like many people, she wanted to be normal and have a normal life with her friends. When Shane asked, “And so, you were just completely alone?” Jenner quietly responded, “Yes.”
Kylie Jenner Says Growing Up Famous Became Her ‘Normal’
Kylie Jenner has previously spoken about life under constant public scrutiny, including during a 2023 conversation with Jennifer Lawrence for Interview Magazine.
At the time, she admitted fame was worse when she was younger. Still, the 28-year-old explained that she had little perspective on life outside the spotlight because reality television became her normal at such a young age.
“I don’t really know what it would be like to grow up not in the spotlight, and that’s helped me because I have nothing to refer back to,” she previously shared.
During her latest podcast appearance, Jenner reflected on the early days of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” which began filming when she was just nine years old.
“They were there one day in the house and everyone made it seem really normal. So it felt pretty natural, I will say,” she explained.
Jenner also looked back fondly on the show’s earlier years, calling them some of her favorite memories.
Jenner Says Family Bond Remains Strong Off Camera
Even though the Kardashian-Jenner family built an empire through reality television, Kylie Jenner says their bond still exists away from the cameras.
“The show really kind of brought us all together,” the TV personality explained, adding, “It still does today.”
She shared that the family still spends time together privately, including recent movie nights at her mom’s home without production crews around.
Jenner also admitted that balancing filming schedules, careers, children, and personal lives has become increasingly difficult over the years.
“But other than that, our schedules and our lives and our kids and everything, it gets to be a lot that filming really brings us and keeps us together because we all we’re working together,” she explained.
Despite the pressures that came with fame, she still views many moments from the show positively.
Kylie Jenner Became Emotional Explaining Fame To Daughter Stormi
Last month, Jenner revealed she unexpectedly broke down emotionally after trying to explain the family’s fame to her daughter Stormi.
While appearing on the “Big Bro with Kid Cudi” podcast, the doting mom shared how she recently sat her oldest child down to explain why their family became famous.
“I sat her down, and I’m like, ‘We started a television show when I was a year older than you, and that’s why we’re all in this together,’” Jenner recalled.
Stormi then asked if she could watch the show herself, and Jenner agreed. However, after showing her daughter an episode, the experience unexpectedly overwhelmed her emotionally.
“I was so emotional after. I don’t know what hit me, but I was weeping in my bed,” Jenner admitted. She continued, “I was just like, maybe it’s my daughter being the same as I was [or] just seeing my family.”
Jenner added that watching those old moments reminded her how much life has changed for the Kardashian-Jenner family over the years.
