Having kicked off on 30 March, shooting on the 6th feature film by Swiss director Léa Fazer (revealed in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section in 2004 via Welcome to Switzarland and also acclaimed for Maestro, among other works), Les Vœux, is set to wrap on 5 June.
The cast stars Isabelle Carré (awarded the 2003 Best Actress César for Beautiful Memories and nominated a further four times, and at her best last year in Jean Valjean and The Dreamers), Spaniard Sergi López (named Best Actor at the 2001 Césars, excellent in last year’s Sirāt and recently seen in Cannes by way of Aquí), Hippolyte Girardot (nominated for the Best Actor César in 1990 and 1992, acclaimed last year in Two Pianos, and soon to appear in L’affaire Zanetti, Les Cœurs affamés and Le joueur) and Thibault de Montalembert (beyond famous for playing Mathias in the series Call My Agent!).
Adapted by the director from Catherine Draveil’s book Métamorphose : La vie m’appelle, the story charts the (true) story of a woman who decides to change her life after spending 35 years in a convent…
Les Vœux was produced by Hélène Cases (a European Film Promotion’s Producer on the Move of 2012) on behalf of Lionceau Films, in co-production with France 2 Cinéma, Kabo Films and Belgian firm Fontana. Pre-purchased by Canal+, TV5 Monde and France Télévisions, the feature film also enjoys support from the Hauts-de-France region (where the film was shot in its entirety, with Pénélope Pourriat heading up photography) via Pictanovo and from the SOFICA companies Cofinova, Cinécap, Cofimage and Cinéaxe. The film’s music will be composed by Audrey Ismaël (The Kingdom, Wild Diamond, Dua), while world sales and distribution in French cinemas will fall to Pyramide.
