Jennifer Hudson wrapped her Toronto VIP Meet & Greet with a fitting description. She called the crowd her own personal United Nations.
Hudson posted on Instagram with footage credited to photographer Dylan Bernier and Tour Bus Entertainment. The caption made clear this was no ordinary tour stop. Fans had flown in from countries around the world and driven across the continent for the chance to meet her in person. “Huge thank you to everyone who came from near and far, flying in from all over the world and driving across the continent to see little old me,” she wrote.
The geographic range of the crowd stood out. International fans traveling specifically for a VIP meet-and-greet is not something most artists can count on. Hudson acknowledged it plainly. “My VIP Meet & Greet felt like the United Nations,” she wrote.
The format was notable too. Hudson said she spent time with each attendee personally, listening to their stories and, in some cases, their songs. VIP packages at major tours often mean a quick photo and a handshake. What Hudson described sounds considerably more personal than that.
She was open about how the night felt. “I enjoyed every minute of meeting each of you and hearing your stories and songs. I truly felt the love and I hope you did too,” she wrote. The post closed with a message for her next city: “I cannot wait for tonight. I’m coming for u, Boston!”
The loyalty Hudson commands from fans has a long backstory. She finished seventh on American Idol in 2004. That result surprised a lot of viewers at the time. What followed changed the conversation entirely. Her debut film role in Dreamgirls earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2007. Her self-titled debut album won the Grammy for Best R&B Album in 2009.
The career didn’t slow from there. Hudson went on to work across film, television, and stage over the following two decades. She hosted her own daytime talk show, “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” from 2022 to 2024. In 2022, she earned a Tony Award as a producer on A Strange Loop. The following year, a Daytime Emmy for that show completed the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), a distinction held by fewer than 20 people in entertainment history.
That kind of career builds real devotion. Fans don’t fly internationally for meet-and-greets on a whim.
Boston is confirmed as the next tour stop. Hudson announced it herself in the closing line of her post. The Toronto reception suggests the rest of the run will look similar.
