The Paper Season 2 has been confirmed to return later this year. The hilarious returning cast of the comedy series includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman, and Oscar Nuñez.
The story picks up after the team sweeps the Ohio Journalism Awards. Ned (Gleeson) searches for a journalistic crusade and accidentally jeopardises the paper whilst also trying to figure out his attraction to Mare. Esmeralda struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually matures as reporters.
After years of back and forth about whether The Office would return, The Paper hit our screens, set in the same universe late last year and came with some fantastic callbacks and references. It’s produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman serve as co-creators and executive producers. Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille) are also executive producers.
Synopsis:
In Toledo, Ohio, the same documentary crew that followed the workers at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch twenty years earlier focuses its efforts on the Toledo Truth Teller, a historic but declining Midwestern newspaper trying to resurrect itself with volunteer reporters.
The Paper returns on September 10th in the UK on Sky and NOW TV.
