Collin Gosselin and his family became known to audiences through reality television, but fans have been following his story long after its run. Recently, it was announced that he will share more of his story in an upcoming memoir. Since then, an inside source has weighed in on his mother Kate’s reaction to the story.
Collin Gosselin’s Memoir, In The Shadow Of Eight, Is Expected For An October Release
Many were first introduced to the Gosselin family through the reality series, Jon & Kate Plus 8. This show followed the titular couple and their eight children, made up of twin daughters and a set of sextuplets. Jon and Kate divorced in 2009, with Jon marrying Stephanie Lebo in 2025.
Currently, Collin and Hannah are the only children who still see Jon, as they both live with him. Over the years, Collin’s relationship with his mother has made headlines, with her enrolling him in an inpatient center in 2016. Jon obtained physical and legal custody of his son in 2018. In addition, Collin is known to be close to his father’s ex-girlfriend, Colleen Conrad, often describing her as a mother figure to him.
Recently, it’s been announced that Collin plans to release a memoir detailing his childhood. The book, In The Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, is scheduled for an October 13 release.

Since the news has come out, a source spoke with The Daily Mail, claiming that Collin’s mother, Kate, initially had no idea that the project was in the works until it was publicly announced. As the insider shared, “Collin hasn’t spoken to his mother since she abandoned him in an institution as a young child.”
The source alleged that Kate is deeply concerned about what could be revealed once the book comes out. As they shared, “She didn’t expect any of this to ever come out. Now she’s spiraling because she knows it’s about to hit the fan.”
Meanwhile, taking to Instagram, Collin has been promoting the upcoming memoir. In one share, he noted, “Writing this book forced me to revisit some of the hardest moments of my life, but it also gave me something I’ve been searching for a long time: my voice. This isn’t the story people think they know. It’s the story I’ve lived.” In another post, Collin noted that the release comes out on Colleen’s birthday, which he claimed was a coincidence. However, he highlighted her as “the strongest woman I know.”
