Dylan Dreyer is famous for her work on Today. However, she has also often discussed family and her life as a mother on her podcast, The Parent Chat. Recently, she shared an emotional admission when it comes to her family. This also comes out as she recently received a big honor.
Today‘s Dylan Dreyer Dropped The Parent Chat Back In April
Dreyer is known for her work with Today as a meteorologist. However, back in April, she launched her first-ever podcast, titled The Parent Chat, in which she often discusses family with various guests and offers advice to listeners.
In her personal life, Dreyer married NBC News producer and cameraman Brian Fichera in 2012, with the two announcing their divorce in 2025. Since then, they have announced their plans to co-parent their three sons, Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty, together.
Recently, Dylan sat down for an interview with Parents, where she talked about some tougher times she’s faced as a mother. As she shared, “I’m a busy working mom. I hit my breaking points sometimes at the end of the day, and I’m just trying to make the best life for the kids. To think people can relate to what I’m going through and find me inspirational is really wild.”
Dreyer felt that these feelings are universal among parents. As she continued, “As parents, we all feel those struggles but also feel the joys. I don’t know if I’m doing anything right as a parent, but I like to think I am. My kids are super happy, they seem grounded, and our house is full of so much love. So, I’m honored that anyone thinks, ‘Well, the way she does things is inspirational!’”
This came out after Dreyer was named one of the 2026 Parents Next Gen Awards honorees. This honor celebrates those who made a difference for families and children over the past year.
Dreyer Noted That She & Her Today Co-Stars Often Share Parenting Advice With Each Other
While discussing the idea of being, or at least aspiring to be, the perfect parent, Dreyer admitted to feeling guilty at times. She also noted that she was in a lucky position through her work as a journalist.
Dreyer explained, “I’m very fortunate that I have a job that I love. So if I’m working or if I am traveling for work, I do really enjoy it. But guilt comes with the territory whenever you’re not the one to be there for your kids 100 percent. Realistically, I can’t be there for everything. But I make sure someone they know and love is there for them.”
In addition, Dreyer noted that there was another benefit to working on Today. She and her co-stars often bond over their lives as parents, all while working together on the show, even relying on each other for advice.
As Dreyer shared, “We can all commiserate and relate to each other. It’s like, ‘Oh, mine’s going through this, or are you doing camp this year, or what kind of sports do you like?’ I can’t stand that sports go all year now. What happened when we were little, and sports were just one season?”
