The S.W.A.T. spinoff has been greenlit and not only landed a network but has a premiere date, as well. Its OG series was officially canceled in March 2025, and fans have been mourning its loss. Now, they finally have some good news. Keep reading for more details.
S.W.A.T. Is Returning
After eight seasons, the Shemar Moore-helmed CBS series, S.W.A.T., finally came to an end. It had been canceled a few times prior, but it was able to have a proper send-off, which fans appreciated. There had been talk about the show coming to another network or a spinoff, and now that has come to fruition. S.W.A.T. Exiles has been picked up and will air on Starz. However, there is chatter that it is in talks to come to a streamer as well, so it is more accessible. The show finished filming almost a year ago, and it seems just ten episodes were ordered.
Moreover, its original title was S.W.A.T. Academy. However, that has since been reworked, but Shemar Moore is on board to reprise his role as Sergeant II Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr. He has been “forced” to come out of retirement and will be headed on many adventures, so this is perfect for hardcore fans. Additional cast members are Ronen Rubinstein, Freddy Miyares, Zyra Gorecki, Lucy Barrett, and Adain Bradley. As of now, it is set to premiere on September 25th, 2026.
Viewers were convinced that the show had been shelved, given that there was nothing about a premiere date. However, it is now official, and Shemar shared a video on his social media regarding it, leading fans to celebrate. They were just as pumped as he was for the new series and to have him return to S.W.A.T., especially with the cancellations and the delays.
It’s Finally Here
With the new S.W.A.T. back, fans and followers are beyond thrilled. They could not wait to see what was in store when it comes back in September and let Shemar Moore know how excited they were:
