Team Canada won the silver medal on Saturday in the Women’s 3×3 Basketball Series in Marseille, France. The Canadian team was comprised of Cassandra Brown of Vernon, British Columbia, Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Katherine Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta and Merrisah Russell of Ottawa, Ontario.
Canada won Pool B with a record of two wins and zero losses. They then won their quarterfinal and semifinal games before losing 15-9 in the final to Azerbaijan.
In Pool B play, Canada beat two teams from Italy by scores of 21-6 and 19-10. In Canada’s first win over Italy, Russell led Canada with 10 points, Crozon led Canada with six rebounds and Crozon, Plouffe and Russell each had one key assist. In Canada’s second win over Italy, Crozon led Canada with nine points, Brown led Canada with six rebounds, and Russell led Canada with three key assists.
Canada then beat a second Canadian team 22-11 in the quarterfinals and France 18-16 in the semifinals. In the semifinal win, Plouffe had eight points, and tied with Brown to lead Canada with three rebounds. Crozon led Canada with three key assists.
This was Canada’s third medal of the 2026 Women’s 3×3 Basketball Series. They previously won gold in Shanghai, and silver in Poitiers, France. Canada is fifth in the Women’s 3×3 Basketball Tour standings with 300 points. They are behind Mongolia (400 points), Azerbaijan (352 points), Germany (328 points), and China (322 points).
