Bad Bunny has earned his first Emmy nomination, adding another major milestone to a career that has reached new heights in recent years.

The Puerto Rican superstar received the nod to headline the 2026 Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, marking the first time he has headlined the NFL’s biggest musical stage.

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance not only captivated millions of viewers but has also earned recognition from the Television Academy.

The Television Academy recently unveiled the nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards, with the Puerto Rican star’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

The “Me Porto Bonito” hitmaker will face tough competition in the category from the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards on CBS, the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS, “The Oscars” on ABC, and the 78th Annual Tony Awards on CBS.

Even if he doesn’t take home the trophy when the awards are announced in September, Bad Bunny can take pride in the show’s broader success. The Super Bowl LX Halftime Show received eight additional Emmy nominations, bringing its total to nine.

Those nods include Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program, and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special.

The Singer Is Up For The Grammys’ Biggest Prize

Bad Bunny’s Emmy nomination comes on the heels of another career-defining achievement. Earlier this year, the Puerto Rican superstar made history at the 68th Grammy Awards when his album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” became the first Spanish-language album to win the coveted Album of the Year award.

The victory marked a significant milestone, as Spanish-language projects have traditionally been recognized in Latin-specific categories such as Best Música Urbana Album and Best Latin Pop Album rather than the Grammys’ top overall prize.

The singer’s success didn’t end there. He also took home two additional Grammy Awards that night, winning Best Música Urbana Album ahead of fellow nominees J Balvin, Feid, Nicki Nicole, and Trueno, as well as Best Global Music Performance for his hit song, “EoO.”

On Spotify, the same “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” album was crowned the platform’s Global Top Album of 2025, further highlighting the worldwide impact of Bad Bunny’s music beyond his Puerto Rican roots.

Even more notably, the singer was once again named Spotify’s most-streamed artist globally, reclaiming the top spot for a record fourth time.

He achieved the feat with 19.8 billion streams, driven entirely by listener activity rather than editorial selections or reviews from news outlets.

The Latin music icon had previously topped Spotify Wrapped in 2020, 2021, and 2022 before pop star Taylor Swift claimed the honor in 2023 and 2024. To mark the milestone, Spotify once again presented him with a commemorative ring during a tour stop in the Dominican Republic.

The Hitmaker Surpassed $1 Billion In Touring Grosses

Another defining moment for Bad Bunny came just a few weeks ago when he officially surpassed $1 billion in career touring grosses.

The achievement made him the first Latin artist and the first non-English-language act ever to reach the milestone, joining a select group of global touring acts that includes Taylor Swift, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Ed Sheeran, and Beyoncé.

The accomplishment was made even more remarkable by the fact that he achieved it without performing a single U.S. show on his current tour.

The milestone came amid his “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” World Tour, which has already grossed $360 million and sold 2.4 million tickets across its first 41 shows. The tour is now projected to surpass $450 million in total grosses by the time it concludes.

Bad Bunny Credits U.S. Latinos For His Success

A significant portion of Bad Bunny’s success has come from listeners in the United States. He expressed deep gratitude to that fan base during a 2022 interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“At the end of the day, my success in the United States I owe to the hardworking Latinos who have helped make the country what it is today,” he said at the time. “I highly doubt the type of gringos I don’t f-ck with listen to me.”

“Those were all the people at the Super Bowl who were pissed off about how Latino the halftime show was,” the singer added, referencing his appearance during the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
