The Mariners are optioning infielder Colt Emerson to Triple-A Tacoma, reports Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Divish adds that the M’s are expect to select infielder Brock Rodden to the roster in Emerson’s place. The 40-man has a couple of vacancies, so no further moves would be required. Rodden and Leo Rivas will be the candidates to cover shortstop while Emerson is down and J.P. Crawford is on the injured list.
