Marina Mabrey, a player for the WNBA’s Toronto Tempo, recently voiced her complaints about the reliability of the Rogers Wi-Fi in her apartment.
Mabrey initially voiced her concerns on social media, posting to X that she needed help with the internet in her apartment and that the communications giant wasn’t answering its calls (remember: the telecom giant gutted its customer service department back in July).
Mabrey told reporters after practice on Monday that a technician came to look at her Wi-Fi following her post, which was thought to have resolved her issues.

“He came, told me to move all my stuff out of the closet; that was crazy,” Mabrey told reporters. “I did. he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s fixed… it had to be your apartment number was wrong or something.’”
However, a mere two hours later, Mabrey’s wifi cut out in the final 13.3 seconds of the marquee Indiana Fever vs Atlanta Dream game, because the internet gods have such great comedic timing.
Mabrey noted that her Rogers Wi-Fi is still not fixed.
“I don’t want to be a part of it. I want my WiFi to work. I’m sick to death. I Can’t order anything from Skims, Fashion Nova; I can’t order nothing. I can barely FaceTime. I’m pissed,” Mabrey joked when asked about how she feels about becoming a ‘true Canadian.’ “I’m about to tweet back at Rogers again.”

Honestly, my Rogers experience hasn’t been too bad, but because I am in a pretty rural area, I am on Rogers’ satellite internet instead of fibre optic, so I’m not sure if there is a reliability difference. However, there are tons of complaints like Mabrey’s out there, with customers reporting constant outages and no true fix. Plus, not being able to reach customer service — but that’s kind of expected at this point.
