Gábor Reisz’ Hungarian/Italian coproduction Ground Floor / Földszint will have its domestic premiere in the CineFest’s main competition four days after its world premiere in the Venezia Spotlight section at the Venice International Film Festival (2 – 12 September 2026).
„The competition programme of the 22nd CineFest is once again on par with Europe’s most prestigious film festivals: the year’s most important films are premiering here in Hungary for the first time”, said festival director Tibor Bíró.
The festival is launching a new competition programme, V4+, a reimagining of the former East of Europe competition. One of the eight films selected in this competition, Igor Šeregi’s hit The Wedding / Svadba, will open the festival.
The Official Selection also includes OpenEye, CineNewWave, CineDocs, with sidebar section such as CineClassics and CineTribute.
