Fans of university football in the province of Saskatchewan will once again get the chance to view their teams on television.
The Canada West Football Showcase is returning to SaskTel maxTV and maxTV Stream this fall with an 18-game slate, which includes every contest for the University of Regina Rams and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. SaskTel subscribers will also be able to view every game during the BioSteel Hardy Cup playoffs.
“SaskTel is pleased to continue delivering Canada West football to viewers across Saskatchewan through maxTV and maxTV Stream,” SaskTel president and CEO Charlene Gavel said in a statement. “Supporting university athletics is an important part of our commitment to strengthening communities and creating opportunities for student-athletes to excel. Through our partnerships with Canada West and Saskatchewan’s universities, we are proud to help bring the excitement of varsity sport to fans across the province while providing exclusive local programming to our customers.”
Regina and Saskatchewan have met in each of the last two Hardy Cups, with Regina capturing the title in 2024 before Saskatchewan responded with a victory in 2025. If the teams meet again in the 2026 conference championship, it would mark the first time the Hardy Cup has featured the same matchup in three consecutive seasons since 2015-2017.
The Rams and Huskies will play each other just once in the regular season, on Saturday, September 26. The provincial rivalry is among the best in Canadian university sports, and has never been more accessible.
“We are excited to once again bring Canada West football to SaskTel subscribers across the province,” managing director of Canada West Rocky Olfert said as part of the announcement. “Since becoming the official television home of Canada West football in 2017, SaskTel has been a fantastic partner, connecting our talented student-athletes with fans across western Canada. We appreciate SaskTel’s continued support of our conference and Saskatchewan’s two elite football programs.”
Every Rams and Huskies game will also be available on maxTV Local on Demand. Viewers can find them on channels 48 or 348 for the Rams and 49 or 349 for the Huskies.
All Canada West football games will still be available through streaming packages or single-game passes on Canada West TV.
