Rubbish truck kills one person and injures four in Pamplona
A rubbish collection truck ran over several people on Sunday on in the old town of the northern city of Pamplona, leaving at least one dead and four others injured, according to police sources.
The likely cause was a malfunction in the vehicle’s braking system, although the exact cause is still under investigation.
As a result of the accident, one person died at the scene, while others were trapped under the garbage truck and had to be rescued by firefighters.
According to the Pamplona Municipal Police, two people are in critical condition, two others sustained minor injuries and several other people involved in the incident were treated at the scene for anxiety attacks.

Four days after the devastating earthquakes, Venezuela continues its race against time to search for survivors who may be trapped under collapsed buildings.
The latest official tally from Venezuelan authorities stands at 1,450 dead and 3,150 injured.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry reported on Sunday that 17 Spaniards have died in the disaster, while 150 people are missing and another 12 remain trapped under the rubble.
Spain’s next general election could be in August 2027
If Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez serves out his full term, he would have to call general elections by June 28th 2027.
This is the calculation that follows Article 42 of the Organic Law of the General Electoral System (LOREG).
Elections would have be held 54 days after the publication of the aforementioned decree, on August 22nd.
The pressure has been increasingly mounting on Sánchez, with several corruption scandals involving his inner circle and family.
Sánchez maintains that the allegations of widespread corruption in his party have been exaggerated by the opposition and the media, reiterating he plans to sit out his full legislature.
Rafa Nadal opens hotel in the Canary Islands
Retired tennis star Rafa Nadal has opened his fourth ZEL hotel in partnership with Spain’s main hotel chain Meliá, this time on the easterly Canary island of Fuerteventura, after previous hotel openings have been in Mallorca, the Costa Brava and the Dominican Republic.
