The announcement came from djagonline’s Instagram under the tags #agfest and #djagonline. The short notice is kind of the whole vibe here. London folks caught the post and had a split-second decision to make: stay home or head to Wembley and figure it out. Word traveled fast from there.
djagonline has been building out the #agfest event series, and pulling in Akon for a same-day appearance is a serious move for it. There wasn’t much advance buildup. The post dropped today and that was the whole announcement.
Akon, born Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam, broke through in the mid-2000s and never really left.
