Cabrera first joined CNN as a Denver-based correspondent in 2013, serving on the network’s investigative team. By 2017, she was named anchor of CNN Newsroom‘s weekend edition.
By the end of 2022, Cabrera announced she would leave the network and join NBC News, becoming an anchor for MSNBC Reports the following year. Her block was expanded to two hours by 2025.
However, Cabrera has recently announced plans to exit the network, which has since transitioned into MS NOW. Making the move after around two years with the network, the former CNN star said that the move was of her own choice.
In a video message shared with fans, Cabrera shared, “Throughout my career, I’ve always sought the best opportunities to do this work and have the greatest impact while staying true to myself and mission as a journalist.” She shared that her goal had been to “educate and inform and shine light, to hold people at power accountable, people on all sides of the political aisle and non-politicians, as well, to be a government watchdog, to bring you compelling stories from across a broad range of news and to always seek the truth.”
Cabrera continued, sharing that this was something she had always done and planned to do. This could hint at her wanting to continue to work in journalism. While she didn’t confirm anything during the statement, she assured fans that they would know her next move soon.
Other Figures Have Recently Been Switching Time Slots At The Network
Despite leaving, Cabrera also shared that she was grateful for her time with MS NOW. She particularly wanted to thank both her “wonderful colleagues” and “the viewers.”
Finally, Cabrera shared that her exit wasn’t going to be immediate. The journalist noted that she would be staying with the network for the next few months.
As noted by The Los Angeles Times, this also comes out as viewers have seen a shake-up at the network. This included figures like Stephanie Ruhle and Alicia Menendez changing time slots.
