Ariana Grande officially kicked off the Eternal Sunshine Tour tonight with Night One in Oakland, and the response was immediate. The official @teamariana Instagram said it simply: “welcome to the eternal sunshine tour ꕤ 。˚ oakland, night 1.” The launch post crossed 334,000 likes on Instagram, with total cross-platform engagement clearing 354,000 interactions on the day of the debut.
Those numbers aren’t surprising. Arianators have been waiting on this tour for years.
Ariana’s last full headline run was the Sweetener World Tour. It wrapped in December 2019. That’s more than six years between major concert tours for one of pop’s biggest names. The Eternal Sunshine album arrived in March 2024, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and produced “yes, and?” – one of the sharpest pop singles she’s dropped in her career. Fans were asking about a tour from jump.
Now it’s finally here.
The years between tours weren’t quiet. Grande starred in the 2024 theatrical release of Wicked alongside Cynthia Erivo. The film was a massive box office hit and raised her profile considerably. She’s walking into this tour with a bigger audience than she had going into any previous run.
That context matters. The Eternal Sunshine Tour is arriving at a peak moment, off the back of the Wicked wave and two years of deep fan attachment to the album.
Oakland getting Night One is a strong pick for an opening stop. West Coast crowds tend to set the tone for a tour’s energy, and the Bay Area has a well-earned reputation for showing up.
Expectations for the production are high. The Sweetener Tour and the Thank U, Next era concerts delivered ambitious visual design and polished staging. Fans heading into tonight are expecting the Eternal Sunshine era to match that standard.
The album gives Grande plenty to pull from for a live set. “the boy is mine,” “imperfect for you,” and “supernatural” have all built serious streaming numbers in the two years since release. The Oakland crowd goes in tonight already knowing every word.
Ayo, this is the moment. Ariana Grande is back on a major stage, and the Eternal Sunshine Tour is officially in motion. Oakland locked down Night One. The rest of the cities on the bill better come ready.
More coverage coming as the night wraps.
