Audrey Leduc of Gatineau, Quebec won her first career Diamond League medal on Sunday. She placed third in the women’s 200 metres in an event in Rabat, Morocco.
Leduc posted a time of 22.41 seconds. Cambrea Sturgis of the United States won the gold medal with a time of 22.21 seconds and Kayla White ofd the United States won the silver medal with a time of 22.28 seconds. Leduc reached the podium by the slimmest of margins–one one-hundredth of a second to be exact. Shaunae Miller-Uibio of the Bahamas finished in fourth place with a time of 22.42 seconds.
With the podium finish, Leduc is in ninth place in the Diamond League standings with six points. Miller-Uibo leads with 19 points. It is interesting that Miller-Uibo leads the Diamond League standings, but has not won any of the three women’s 200 metre Diamond League events in 2026. Miller-Uibo won the silver medal behind Shericka Jackson of the Bahamas in Shaoxing, China on May 16, and the silver medal behind Jackson again in Xiamen, China on May 23.
Leduc’s time in Morocco of 22.41 seconds was a seasonal best. Leduc has the national record in the women’s 200 metres as she posted a time of 22.36 seconds when she won the 2024 Edwin Moses Classic in Atlanta. The bronze medal for Leduc in Morocco will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
