The current contract with Caltech ends in 2028. NASA is opening up bids for who will run the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) once the contract with Caltech expires in 2028. This is a pretty big deal, as Caltech has run the program since its founding in 1936. The JPL actually predates NASA by over two decades. This doesn’t mean that Caltech is getting shut out. It just means that NASA is looking into other options. The agency issued a notice to solicit responses from any interested parties, as “the rapid growth of the US space economy indicates there may now…

Barcelona are set to extend Andreas Christensen’s stay at the club by a further two years, after reaching an agreement with the Danish defender. The deal comes as something of a surprise, given his limited contribution over the past two years.Christensen has made just 23 appearances over the past two years, which have largely been blighted by injuries. The 30-year-old played only 515 minutes this season, but there were surprise reports in January that President Joan Laporta was keen to offer him a new deal. Manager Hansi Flick has spoken highly of Christensen in public too, but has been unable…
WASHINGTON (AP) — Tulsi Gabbard resigned as President Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence on Friday, saying she needed to step away as her husband battles cancer. She is the fourth Cabinet official to depart during Trump’s second term. In her resignation letter, which she posted on social media, Gabbard said she told Trump of her decision to leave office on June 30. She said her husband had recently been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and “faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months.” “At this time, I must step away from public service to be…
This year has been marked by the U.S. President Donald Trump’s aggressive approach to foreign policy. From the seizure of the Venezuelan president in January to the ongoing war in Iran, the U.S. government is unashamedly entering into a new era of American Imperialism. Political scientist Gabriel De Roche, Madelaine Drohan, senior fellow at the Graduate School of Public and International Policy, University of Ottawa, politics and philosophy professor Thomas Ponniah and rabble’s own parliamentary reporter Karl Nerenberg discuss how progressives north and south of the border can respond to the so-called Donroe Doctrine. About our guests Gabriel De Roche is…
Canada’s next cellular radio spectrum auction will allow carriers to access millimetre wave (mmWave) frequencies, finally enabling access to the high-speed 5G wireless service seen in other countries. As a quick refresher, 5G connectivity comes in two flavours, low-band frequency (commonly referred to as sub-6GHz, or just sub-6) and high-band frequency (mmWave). So far, Canadian carriers have deployed 5G service using sub-6 frequencies, such as the 3,500MHz and 3,800MHz spectrum we’ve seen in recent years, which has left Canadian 5G quite a bit slower than other places that prioritized the mmWave rollout. High-band, mmWave 5G operates in the 24.25-71GHz range.…
Poised to become the king of pipelines, with a total route of more than 2,600 kilometers (1,615 miles), Power of Siberia-2 is set to change two things forever: global natural gas flows and the already solid alliance between China and Russia. A few loose ends remain before it becomes reality, but after Tuesday’s meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, the road appears paved for the pipeline that will link the Yamal Peninsula ― one of the world’s largest gas fields ― with Beijing and Shanghai to come to fruition. The promise that comes with the soaring name Power of Siberia-2…
President Trump is capping off a busy week attacking fellow Republicans with a social media post calling Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina a “nitpicker” and “quitter.” Mr. Tillis likely drew fire from the president over his public criticism this week of the president’s Anti-Weaponization Fund, established as part of the president’s settlement with the Justice Department over his leaked tax returns lawsuit. Mr. Trump devoted one of his signature Truth Social attacks on Friday to Mr. Tillis, whom he called an “ineffective” senator who “didn’t have the courage to fight it out in the Senate, remain in place, and…
