Country music star Bailey Zimmerman is facing serious legal trouble after New Mexico prosecutors filed criminal charges stemming from an alleged incident at a resort hotel earlier this year. According to legal documents, authorities in Bernalillo County filed paperwork on June 18 seeking an arrest warrant for the singer. Prosecutors are reportedly pursuing a felony charge for criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor charge for falsely obtaining services. The charges stem from an incident that allegedly unfolded on May 27 while Bailey Zimmerman was scheduled to perform in Albuquerque.
According to an affidavit cited by TMZ, Zimmerman was set to perform at the Sandia Resort and Casino Amphitheater when concerns about his behavior began to surface.
Security personnel reportedly told investigators that the country singer appeared intoxicated throughout the evening and was allegedly stumbling, falling, and behaving erratically during sound check. Authorities claim Zimmerman threw microphones to the ground, tossed cymbals, and knocked over part of a drum kit before repeatedly storming off stage.
The affidavit further alleges that he eventually abandoned sound check altogether and returned to the resort before later canceling that night’s concert.
Hotel Staff Say Resort Room Was Left Destroyed

The most significant allegations involve the condition of Zimmerman’s hotel room after he left the property. According to court documents, housekeeping staff discovered extensive damage the following day, with repairs estimated at more than $16,000. Investigators say the alleged damage included a destroyed television, damaged furniture, a broken phone, holes in the walls, stained carpeting, and missing chairs.
The resort also reportedly claimed that more than $400 worth of alcohol had been charged to the room but was never paid for.
According to the documents, multiple attempts were allegedly made by both resort staff and law enforcement to contact Zimmerman and members of his team regarding the incident, but officials say they received no response.
Bailey Zimmerman Has Become One Of Country Music’s Fastest-Rising Stars

The legal troubles come as Zimmerman continues to enjoy a meteoric rise in country music. The Illinois native first gained attention through social media before breaking into the mainstream with hits including “Fall In Love,” “Rock and a Hard Place,” and “Religiously.” His debut album quickly established him as one of the genre’s biggest new stars, earning multiple award nominations and chart success.
Zimmerman has also become a major touring act, regularly selling out venues across the country and sharing stages with some of country music’s biggest names. His rapid rise has made him one of the most commercially successful young artists in the genre over the past several years.
Singer Previously Opened Up About Personal Struggles

While Zimmerman has largely built a reputation as an upbeat performer, he has also spoken candidly about difficult periods in his life before finding success in music. Before his breakthrough, the singer worked blue-collar jobs and discussed battling self-doubt while trying to establish himself in the industry. “I thought I was gonna build gas pipelines for the rest of my life, honestly,” he told PEOPLE in 2024. “I actually went through many things before I got to singing.”
After working in the gas pipeline industry, where he said he dealt with less-than-ideal bosses, Zimmerman eventually shifted into truck building and content creation. He became active in the truck enthusiast community on TikTok and was even making plans to open a truck shop with his brother.
However, while waiting for parts to arrive for one of their first builds, Zimmerman found himself with some unexpected free time. To pass the time, he recorded a video of himself singing Black Stone Cherry’s “Stay” and was surprised by the response. Realizing he might have a talent for music, he continued experimenting and eventually posted an original song he had written with friend Gavin Lucas.
The clip quickly went viral on TikTok, attracting millions of views and introducing Zimmerman to a completely new audience. What started as a hobby soon turned into a full-fledged music career, prompting him to abandon his plans in the truck industry and pursue country music full-time.
How Bailey Zimmerman Connected With Millions Of Fans

Many of his songs draw from personal experiences involving heartbreak, mental health struggles, and overcoming adversity, themes that have resonated strongly with fans. One example is his song “Holding On,” an emotional anthem about leaning on someone during life’s darkest moments and hoping they stay through the storm.
Now, however, the country star finds himself facing allegations that could carry serious legal consequences if prosecutors move forward with the case.
