Bangladesh and Australia are set to square off in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram on June 19. The visitors head into the contest with a 1-0 lead after registering a comfortable four-wicket victory in the series opener.

Australia delivered a clinical all-round performance in the first T20I. Their spinners completely dominated proceedings, with Adam Zampa and debutant Joel Davies picking up three wickets each as Bangladesh were restricted to 131. Cooper Connolly then continued his impressive run of form with a match-winning knock of 47 off 27 deliveries, while Tim David chipped in with a useful cameo during the chase.

Bangladesh will be hoping for a stronger batting display after failing to capitalize on a promising powerplay in the opening game. Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy and Parvez Hossain Emon will need to convert starts into substantial scores if the hosts are to bounce back. Australia, meanwhile, will be eager to seal the series with another dominant showing from their balanced batting and spin-heavy attack.

Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium Pitch Report

The Chattogram surface generally offers good conditions for batting during the early stages of a T20 innings. The new ball comes nicely onto the bat, allowing stroke-makers to play their shots freely during the powerplay. However, as the match progresses, the wicket tends to slow down, bringing spinners and slower bowlers into the contest.

Pacers are likely to rely on variations rather than outright pace, while spinners could enjoy considerable success during the middle overs. A first-innings score in the region of 160 could prove highly competitive on this surface. Weather conditions are expected to be warm and humid, with temperatures hovering around 31 degrees Celsius. While there is a slight possibility of rain interruptions, a full match is expected. The captain winning the toss may opt to bat first and put scoreboard pressure on the opposition.
