Netflix was one of the earliest streaming services. The company initially mailed DVDs to subscribers before switching to streaming-only. In addition to its growing library of original content, the streamer has the rights to some of the most beloved movies and shows from the 1980s and 1990s. But fans are livid after noticing that a popular series has disappeared from Netflix and can’t be found anywhere else. Keep reading for all the details.
Beloved ’80s Show Disappears From Netflix
Netflix recently lost one of its most-watched shows. All 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls left the streaming service in June. The beloved show has moved to Amazon Prime and Hulu. The revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, remains on Netflix.
Buying expensive DVDs used to be the only way to watch older shows. However, streaming has made them more accessible. Netflix has leaned into the nostalgia by rebooting many older shows, including Full House, Gilmore Girls, and She-Ra: Princess of Power.
The acclaimed animated series was rebooted in 2018. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power ran for five seasons. It ended in 2020 but remained available on Netflix. However, now it’s gone completely. It was quietly removed from the streaming service in February after Netflix’s licensing agreement with DreamWorks Animation expired, according to The U.S. Sun.

Fans Livid
She-Ra fans recently looking to watch the reboot were livid to find that it was no longer available on Netflix. Even worse, the full 5 seasons aren’t available on any other streaming service. The first 3 seasons were released on DVD in 2019 but the last two seasons were never released.
Enraged fans took to social media to call on Netflix to bring She-Ra and the Princesses of Power back.
- “My 3 year old LOVES this show and when I went to find it and couldn’t, she was so upset. Hoping they put it on another streaming service.”
- “it really upsets me because how are future kids supposed to find it and fall in love with the show?”
- “This is why physical releases should be mandatory,”
- “at least drop a DVD release when you’re removing a Netflix original?!?”
Netflix has canceled and removed dozens of shows in the last few months. But there’s good news for She-Ra fans.
2026 Film Teases She-Ra Sequel
She-Ra was first introduced, along with her twin brother, in the 1985 animated movie He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword. Nicholas Galitzine took on the role of He-Man in the 2026 film The Masters of the Universe.
A post-credit scene hinted at a possible spin-off focused on She-Ra. At the very least, the beloved character will make appearances in future movies in the franchise.
