Over at Cinemacon, exclusive images from the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse by directing duo Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson and writers/producers Lord and Miller have just been released.
The film is the third installment in the animated Spider-Verse film series and is a sequel to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Adapted from Marvel’s iconic comic book character, the film series is the first animated feature film version of the material.
The film will feature the voice cast of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Karan Soni, John Mulaney, Daniel Kaluuya, Liev Schreiber and Nicolas Cage.
Beyond the Spider-Verse will finally pick up from the nail-biting cliffhanger of the last film, which saw hero Miles trapped in a parallel universe with a band of multiverse Spider-Mans heading in to rescue him.
This film is written by Project Hail Mary’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller alongside David Callaham. Production is shared between Lord, Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Jinko Goto.
The first film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, grossed $394 million globally against an initial budget of $90 million, as well as receiving critical acclaim and immediate fan approval, such as a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. It additionally won’t win Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards.
The sequel grossed $690 million worldwide from its $100-150 million budget, making nearly $300 million more than its predecessor, and achieved a score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Spider-Verse film universe will also include a spin-off short film titled Spider-Ham: Caught in the Ham by writer and director Miguel Jiron. And, don’t forget, Spider-Noir is coming to Prime Video next month, starring Nicolas Cage.
