Poison frontman Bret Michaels is still out there performing at 63. He tours the country with his own band, often performing for military veterans. His fear of disappointing fans kept him on the road for three shows despite being in horrible pain. The singer was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. Keep reading for all the details.
Poison Scrapped 40th Anniversary Reunion Tour
Poison burst into the music scene in 1986 with “Cry Tough,” their first single off the iconic Look What the Cat Dragged In album. The “glam metal” band topped the charts with hits like “Talk Dirty To Me” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Lead guitarist C.C. Deville was fired from the band in 1991 amid substance abuse problems.
However, the original band members, including Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett. reunited in 1996 for a reunion tour that kicked off in 1999. Poison continued to tour off and on over the years while they each pursued their solo careers. Fans hoped they would reunite in 2026 to celebrate 40 years since their debut album.
Unfortunately, tensions between the band members prevented the tour from happening. They reportedly disagreed over money. However, they all expressed hope for another reunion tour in the future.
Bret Michaels Rushed To Hospital For Emergency Surgery
The members of Poison are all fantastic musicians in their own right, but Bret Michaels is the face of the band. He continues to sell out arenas on his solo tour. He was originally scheduled to perform at the Great American State Fair in July but dropped out after backlash.
However, he performed at other stops on his summer tour. He recently performed in Charleston, West Virginia, Grantville, Pennsylvania, and Spokane, Washington. But what the audience didn’t know was that Bret Michaels was in tremendous pain. He took to social media to share that he was hospitalized after his concert in Spokane.
“Immediately, the next day following that show, I was admitted to the hospital, as the pain became too much when the stone would not pass,” he wrote on social media. He needed emergency surgery to remove a kidney stone that wouldn’t pass.
“The operation has been done and is complete & I’m out of post-op recovery,” he added. Bret Michaels shared a photo from the hospital bed. The rock legend looked healthy in comfy pants and a t-shirt, sporting a baseball cap. You would think he was about to take the stage to perform for his fans.
That’s exactly what he plans to do. “I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health,” he wrote. His next show is scheduled for July 31 in Illinois.
Bret Michaels previously suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2010 that required emergency surgery. He also has Type 1 diabetes. Despite his medical problems, the rocker puts on a fantastic show for his legion of fans. Check back with TV Shows Ace for updates.
