The Calgary Stampeders have signed American receiver Nunu Whatley.
The five-foot-ten, 171-pound target played his first three collegiate seasons at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, making 108 catches for 1,810 yards with 12 touchdowns over 27 games.
The native of Rockmart, Ga. was named Southern Conference All-Freshman in 2022 and a second-team All-Southern Conference selection in 2023.
The 23-year-old played at the University of Arizona in 2025, where he made 41 receptions for 490 yards and five touchdowns over 13 games. He was named an All-Big 12 honourable mention.
Calgary has also released American receiver Corey Dyches, American offensive lineman Gerald Mincey, and Canadian defensive lineman Jason Janvier-Messier.
The Stampeders have also placed receiver Reggie Begelton and defensive lineman Folarin Orimolade on the injured veterans list. Both players suffered season-ending injuries in 2025.
Global defensive back Bailey Devine-Scott has been moved to the six-game injured list, while American receiver Ryan Jones and American offensive lineman Ed Montilus have been placed on the suspended list.
The Calgary Stampeders recently selected Angelo State linebacker Eric Rascoe with their first-round pick in the 2026 CFL Draft, adding a key piece to pair with veteran Micah Teitz. The team’s other major offseason addition was receiver Dejon Brissett, who set a career-high with 907 receiving yards with the Toronto Argonauts in 2025.
All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on May 10. Calgary will play its first preseason game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Monday, May 18 and its first regular-season game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, June 5.
In 2025, Calgary finished third in the West Division standings with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions.
