Barcelona will host Real Madrid in the final Clasico of the season on Sunday, May 10, LaLiga has confirmed.
Hansi Flick’s Barca hold a nine-point lead over Madrid in the title race and would need to suffer several slip-ups from this point to be in danger of surrendering that advantage.
Depending on results in the coming weeks, the first Clasico at Camp Nou since 2023 could see Barca crowned champions for the second successive season. The game is scheduled to kick off at 9:00pm local time (8:00pm BST).
Los Blancos prevailed in the reverse fixture this season, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham. However, Barcelona beat Madrid 3-2 in the Supercopa de Espana final.
Madrid won the most recent Clasico at Camp Nou prior to its protracted redevelopment, prevailing 4-0 in the Copa del Rey.
The last league fixture between the two arch rivals at Camp Nou saw Barca prevail 2-1.
Real Madrid have chance to put pressure on Barcelona
Madrid host Alaves on Tuesday, with that fixture offering the opportunity for Los Blancos to cut the gap to the Blaugrana to six points.
Barca have a more challenging fixture a day later, as they welcome a Celta Vigo side chasing a possible Champions League spot to Camp Nou.
Flick’s men have already received a boost ahead of that test, with Fermin Lopez returning to training while wearing a protective mask.
Fermin suffered a facial injury as Barca were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid.
LaLiga is now the only major trophy Barca or Madrid can win this season, with the latter facing a trophy-less campaign unless they can produce a dramatic late turnaround in the title race.
