Team Canada has improved to a record of two wins and one loss in Women’s Volleyball Nations League action. On Saturday from the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada defeated France 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 28-26. It was the second straight impressive win for the Canadian women’s volleyball program. On Thursday, Canada defeated the United States 25-22, 25-22, 30-28 in their first ever win against the Americans in Women’s Volleyball Nations League action.
On Saturday, five Canadians reached double digits in points. Opposite Kiera Van Ryk of New Westminster, British Columbia had 21 points (19 attack points and two points off the block), outside hitter Alexa Gray of Lethbridge, Alberta had 17 points (15 attack points and two points off the block), captain and middle blocker Emily Magilo of Cranbrook, British Columbia had 14 points (nine attack points, three points off the block and two aces), outside hitter Abby Guezen of Edmonton, Alberta had 13 points (11 attack points, one point off the block and one ace), and middle blocker Nyadholi Thokbuom of Calgary, Alberta had 10 points (six attack points, three points off the block and one ace).
Canada’s current record in Women’s Volleyball Nations League action is two wins and one loss. On Sunday, Canada will face Japan. The Japanese record is three wins and zero losses.
