CBS’ lineup is going to go through a bit of a shakeup. This includes one hit show, just as news has come out about its latest season. This also comes out as viewers are expected to see a few new shows debut on the network.
Viewers Will Soon See Some Changes Happening To CBS’ Thursday Lineup
On Thursday nights, CBS is known for debuting new episodes of a few of their scripted shows. This includes comedies like Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Ghosts, as well as more dramatic shows like Elsbeth.
However, it’s been announced that the lineup will be facing a change. One popular show will be moved up an hour in a last-minute switch.
Elsbeth will be moved from 10 PM to 9 PM on Thursdays. The series will be taking over for Matlock’s place on the block after airing its season finale last week with a two-hour episode.
Meanwhile, Elsbeth is still in its third season. The season finale is expected to air on May 21. The series already has a fourth season underway, which is expected to debut this fall. It will continue to air at 9 PM.
Elsbeth is a crime procedural comedy drama that serves as a spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight. Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni is an unconventional attorney who finds herself working as a detective of sorts. The show has become known for its format, in which the killer is shown earlier on, with focus being on how they are caught, drawing comparisons to Columbo.
Meanwhile, Matlock will be pushed from the fall schedule. It will then premiere during the midseason. In addition, the latest season of Ghosts is also expected to debut this upcoming January instead of September.
Some New Shows Will Soon Make Their Debut & They Are Already Sister Series To CBS Shows
The Thursday night staples have been delayed as CBS is planning on debuting two new shows. These are Eternally Yours and Cupertino.
Eternally Yours is another supernatural series coming from Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. This series will focus on a family of vampires and will air at 8:30 PM on Thursdays.
Cupertino similarly comes from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King. This legal drama stars Milk Colter as an attorney taking on Silicon Valley’s tech figures. The series will air at 10 PM on Thursdays and will function as something of a sister series to Elsbeth, which was also created by the Kings.
According to The U.S. Sun, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said earlier this month that Matlock‘s full episode count is still being determined. This is due to the truncated season.
