Chicago Stars FC forward Jordyn Huitema was placed on the season-ending injury list Tuesday with a torn left ACL.

The knee injury occurred during the Stars’ 2-0 home loss against Angel City FC on Saturday.

“The Chicago Stars wish Jordyn a speedy recovery with full support from the club and look forward to her return to the pitch,” the team said.

The Stars said Huitema will undergo surgery and begin the rehabilitation process. The recovery timeline – typically six to 12 months for a torn ACL — potentially puts the Canadian star’s participation in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in jeopardy.

Huitema, 25, is in her first season with Chicago following four years with the Seattle Reign (2022-25) and four years with French side Paris Saint-Germain (2019-22). She tallied four goals in 12 matches this season.

Internationally, she has scored 24 goals in 98 caps and helped Canada win the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
