Chicago Fire is set to return for its fifteenth season. As fans are anticipating seeing what’s next, new details have been shared about what’s going on behind-the-scenes. A few big changes have even been announced, and more are rumored to be underway.
Viewers Recently Said Goodbye To Season 14 Of Chicago Fire
Chicago Fire revolves around the lives of firefighters and paramedics in the namesake city. The series wrapped up Season 14 on May 13, 2026.
However, fans can already rest assured that the show is coming back, with it being renewed for Season 15 back in March. That said, a few changes could be expected, especially thanks to the events of the last season.
As shared by Parade, the series’ showrunner, Andrea Newman, is departing. Co-executive producer Victor Teran, who has been on staff since Season 10, will take over for the upcoming season. In a statement, Newman shared, “Working at Chicago Fire, with the absolute best cast and crew in the business, has been the highlight of my career.”
“Like so many others, I was inspired to get into TV writing because of Dick [Wolf], so what a thrill it’s been to work with him and the amazing Wolf team of Peter Jankowski, Rebecca McGill and Anastasia Puglisi. I’m so grateful to them, [former showrunner] Derek Haas and the NBC and Universal execs who have been so supportive of the show all along the way. After 14 years, you really do become a family and working with this group will always feel like home.”
A Few Changes Are Also Rumored To Be Underway
That isn’t the only change expected for the season. Dermot Mulroney previously exited partway through Season 14 as Chief Dom Pascal. At the time, the character’s job terminated after disobeying FBI orders during a One Chicago crossover event.
It was hinted that the character would apply for a job in Phoenix, Arizona. That said, it is still possible for the character, as well as Mulroney, to make their return on the continuing show.
The outlet also hinted at another rumored change. Rob Morgan, who played Battalion Chief Andre Hopkins, previously claimed that he was going to be leaving Firehouse 51 and return to his office at Firehouse 20.
If true, this could also mean that the character will be leaving the show. Viewers could see a new chief, the return of Pascal, or another character take over the role. However, this change has not been officially confirmed.
At this time, a trailer has not been officially released for Season 15. The season also doesn’t have an official release date. However, with NBC’s typical fall premiere schedule, a September or October premiere is expected. Viewers will have to stay tuned in to see what happens next.
