“I was someone who couldn’t afford tickets for a really long time,” he said. “It’s just really important to me that the show is as much of a spectacle as possible and as affordable as possible, because I want people that were in my situation to be able to see a show that I think is going to be really unique and really special.”
Johnson said he looks at the second market as the “capitalist manifesto” that “squeezes you for everything that you’re worth” versus what he’s trying to do – give fans a show that’s affordable.
He followed that up by explaining that he would prefer to add an additional show “than have people buy these insane tickets.”
“If there’s an empty seat there, that let’s me know that there’s something that I could be doing even better,” he continued. “I could be trying to get around the scalpers even better, and I think so many people in America have to choose between like affording their life and enjoying their life.”
