The USA welcome African heavyweights Senegal to the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte as pressure mounts on the World Cup co-hosts.
With less than two weeks until the tournament kicks off, USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping his side can turn around a disappointing run of results in 2026 and generate some much-needed momentum ahead of the showpiece event.
After a positive end to 2025, the US suffered successive home defeats in March, albeit against European powerhouses Belgium (5-2) and Portugal (2-0).
Senegal will similarly be hoping to instil confidence in their squad ahead of a challenging World Cup group, which includes Norway and one of the pre-tournament favourites, France.
However, Pape Thiaw’s side are in blistering form, having lost just two fixtures in 42 games since the 2022 World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Africa Cup of Nations fiasco, that saw Senegal officially stripped of their title after their players walked off the pitch during the final, may only serve to motivate the team further in North America this summer.
