The Cubs announced that Daniel Palencia has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list, a move that was previously reported. Infielder Gabriel Arias, who was recently claimed off waivers, has also been added to the roster. To make room for those two, the club optioned right-hander Javier Assad to Triple-A Iowa and designated infielder/outfielder Owen Miller for assignment. Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times was among those to pass the news along.
