HBO Max has just released the latest teaser for the highly anticipated upcoming original drama series Lanterns from DC Studios.
According to the official synopsis, the series follows recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler). These two intergalactic cops are drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. The latest teaser shows new footage of the two working together, as well as a first look at the critically acclaimed actress Laura Linney, who has just been announced as appearing in the show. Although it’s unclear who Linney is playing at this stage.
It will be based on DC comic characters from the Green Lantern universe and will be produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. It’s been written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, who are also co-creators for the series. The episodes will be directed by James Hawes, Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov. The series was executive-produced by Mundy, Lindelof, King, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Ron Schmidt, and Hawes.
Other cast members already confirmed for the show are Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
Nathan Fillion also appears as Guy Gardner, reprising his role from Superman.
Fingers crossed it’s going to be better than the 2011 film with Ryan Reynolds.
LANTERNS will debut on August 17th and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
