Derek Hough has revealed that he was hung in a tree by his ankles, and worse, when he was a child. Growing up a dancer was not easy for him. It led him to being bullied by other kids a lot.
“They would hang me up in a tree by my ankles and put a gun to my head and spit on me or hogtie me in a field. I was scared. I would have night terrors and I would wet the bed. I was a scared kid, I was a terrified kid. Scared of the dark, scared of my shadow, just scared and constantly on edge.”
He revealed that he was also beaten up several times as a child. Fans were heartbroken to hear this. It led to him being afraid as a kid. However, he has been able to overcome that now that he is an adult.
It seems as though Derek did not have it easy when he was growing up. He was often bullied by other kids. This was hard for him to get through as a child. However, he did not change who he was or what he loved. He stayed true to himself and ended up making a successful career out of it. Fans were in shock to hear about all that he has gone through.
