The Edmonton Oilers remain alive in the 2026 National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs. On Tuesday, the Oilers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 in game five of the first round from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. With the win, the Oilers won their second game of the best out of seven series, but still trail the Ducks three games to two.
Defenseman Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario led the Oilers in scoring with three points as he had three assists. Two more Canadians had a multi-point game for the Oilers. Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia had two assists each for two points.
One Canadian scored for the Oilers. Zach Hyman of Toronto, Ontario scored the game-winning goal at 8:33 of the first period to put the Oilers up 2-0 at the time.
We also saw an impressive bounce back game for Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Ingram struggled in the final two periods of game three of the series on Friday and was benched for Tristan Jarry of Surrey, British Columbia in game four of the series on Sunday. In game five, Ingram made 29 saves on 30 shots.
The series now shifts to Anaheim on Thursday night. Game seven, if necessary, is in Edmonton on Saturday.
