While acknowledging the incredible, generational talent that the teenage sensation possesses, Shukla emphasized that rushing a 15-year-old into international cricket requires careful strategic planning rather than emotional public reactions.
Shukla firmly questioned the heavy criticism directed at the management, warning that tactical selection calls should never be second-guessed in the public eye.
“We are also of the view that he is a very talented player, and he showcased that during the IPL. I have seen several comments against the team management and the coaches, but I want to make it very clear that the coach and captain will take the final decision, They are looking at the situation, and whenever the right opportunity arises, they will definitely give him his chance. So, such decisions should be left to the wisdom of the team management. I don’t know why such unnecessary comments are being made about it,” Shukla stated.
The coaching staff, including bowling coach Morne Morkel, echoed these sentiments, pointing out that benching players like reigning T20 World Cup heroes Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma is not a straightforward task.
