Warner Bros. Pictures has just released a new trailer for their upcoming film, Supergirl, in order to announce that tickets for the film are going on sale.
The film, the latest from DC Studios, follows Supergirl (Milly Alcock) as she travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. It’s based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow limited comic series by Tom King. The celebration soon goes awry, however, when an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, forcing Kara to join forces with an unlikely companion.
Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella) serves as director and works from a script penned by Ana Nogueira. The rest of the film’s cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.
As part of the press tour for the film, Alcock has previously stood up for the genre from criticism from the likes of Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott, saying, “I get it. They’ve been around for fucking ever, making phenomenal films. Whenever a new wave comes along, there’s going to be criticism towards it. Not every film is for everyone. The beauty of art is that you can be selective.”
We shall see how Supergirl fares when it’s released!
Supergirl hits cinemas on June 26th.
