But to do it as a 15-year-old is just absolutely mind-boggling. You know, he hit more sixes than anybody has ever hit in this year’s IPL. He went past Chris Gayle’s record that had been long-standing for 10 or 12 years, or something ridiculous like that, scoring over 700 runs against the very best bowlers. They could not find a way of bowling at him.”

While many expressed disappointment that the teenager didn’t get his cap in the series opener, Morgan offered a grounded perspective on how India should manage their prized asset. “When it comes to handling his future, which undoubtedly, he’s going to have a long international future ahead of him, I would not be putting a time pressure or timeline on it.
