Highway troopers arrested a Florida man accused of driving drunk and having 34 open cans of White Claw Hard Seltzer on his passenger seat.
Conor Parady, 33, a resident of San Antonio, Florida, 30 miles northeast of Tampa, was driving on U.S. Interstate 75 last Friday in a 70 mph zone when he sped past a Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was doing 87 mph.
The trooper then initiated a traffic stop, according to the arrest report for Mr. Parady.
The officer said in the report that Mr. Parady “had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and a noticeable odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.”
When asked where he was coming from, Mr. Parady said he had been at a restaurant and had a couple of alcoholic drinks.
Mr. Parady was unsteady upon exiting his Honda Civic and proceeded to flunk a field sobriety test after refusing to continue it midway through, prompting the arrest, police said.
The trooper then found inside the Civic 34 open cans of White Claw Hard Seltzer partially covered by a T-shirt on the passenger seat, along with multiple guns, suppressors, ammunition and 3D-printed gun components, according to the arrest report.
Florida Highway Patrol Troop C, which works in Tampa and surrounding counties, posted a photo of the cans on Instagram.
Mr. Parady was taken to the Pasco County Jail, and breath samples showed his blood alcohol content at .177 and .166, both more than twice the .08 legal limit in Florida.
Mr. Parady is facing charges of driving under the influence. A public defender was appointed for his case on Tuesday, and a written plea of not guilty was filed along with a notice of discovery and a demand for a jury trial, according to court records.
The records don’t state when Mr. Parady is next expected in court.
